This is the show you want your tween to watch, trust me. We had the chance to screen two upcoming episodes of the Disney Channel series “The Ghost And Molly McGee” last week and I was ‘mompressed’. The series follows upbeat and optimistic tween Molly and her new BFF, grumpy ghost Scratch. Although the pair couldn’t be more different; Molly loves to help others, wants to make the world a better place and is not one to give up easily. Scratch on the other hand is always grouchy, doesn’t care too much about anyone but himself and loves spreading misery all around; they end up forming a special bond. They are stuck together now and together they will navigate the world of middle school and all of the ups & downs of being a tween.

We loved the genuine aspects of being a tween/middle schooler; we laughed every time Molly said or did something Sammie has as well. I found so many similarities between my daughter Sammie and Molly; from the go-getter attitude “I can do anything I put my mind to”, trying to save the planet by recycling, first day jitters, volunteering, running for school committees and worried about being liked. The series hits what it’s like to be a tween/middle schooler right on the nail, I saw so much of my own tween in Molly.

Aside from screening the new episodes, we had the opportunity to chat with the stars of the series Ashley Burch (voices Molly) and Dana Snyder (voices Scratch), we had a fun Q&A and learned a little more about what it was like to play such rad and genuine characters. Burch, an Emmy Award-winning writer, came in as a writing consultant for the character of Molly and ended up voicing her. Burch, being half Thai herself, lended a true authenticity to Molly (who is Thai & Irish). Snyder, a multi-talented actor, has lent his voice to many animated characters; “Lego Starwars: The Freemaker Adventures”, “Aqua Teen Hunger Force”, “The Thundermans“ and Disney Channel’s “Fish Hooks”. Snyder brings a wonderfully comedic and musical flare to the series.

We also got to learn how to sketch Scratch, with super talented Disney animator Karl Cruz. Thank you Disney Channel, Disney Branded PR and Kristin Cruz for the fun afternoon and yummy treats. You can watch new episodes Saturdays on Disney Channel and catch up on Disney+. We give TGAMM 5 out of 5 stars and love all the supernatural, kid-friendly, spooky fun! I recommend it for kids 6-36 (because I enjoyed it just as much as Sammie did).
