New Disney Animated Super Hero Comedy Series, Hamster & Gretel, Was A Hit With Our Fam!

Who else was a Phineas & Ferb fan like me? Well it’s creator, Dan Povenmire, worked his animation/writing/creative magic again!

My oldest and I watched every episode of Phineas & Ferb, now I get to do the same with Sammie, with the new super hero comedy series Hamster & Gretel on Disney Channel.

We had the opportunity to preview a couple of episodes, take an art lesson on drawing the character Gretel from Mr. Dan Povenmire himself and chat with him and Gretel’s voice actress Meli Povenmire (Dan’s daughter, how rad is that!).

The series follows Gretel Grant-Gomez, her big brother Kevin and Gretel’s pet Hamster. After Gretel & Hamster unexpectedly receive super powers from space aliens, they now have to protect their city from all danger and always do good.

Inspired by Emmy-winning creator and executive producer Dan Povenmire’s own sibling relationship, "Hamster & Gretel" dives into the hilarious and sometimes bumpy dynamic between siblings with a significant age gap. I loved seeing a storyline I could connect to; “mom of two kiddos with a 6 year age gap who are constantly bickering” over here.

And shoutout to creator Dan Povenmire for having the series also reflect his real life multi-cultural family; I was so excited to see that Gretel and Kevin’s mom is of Latino heritage. Connecting with this funny & heart-warming series in many ways. Thank you to Disney Channel, Walt Disney Animation Studios and Kristin Cruz for the invitation.
